"Uralredmet" (JSC) has recently solved the problem of strategic importance by creating and mastering highly efficient industrial production of master alloys for titanium alloys designed to manufacture parts for aerospace, defense equipment, shipbuilding and chemical engineering.
Products manufactured under the brand name "Uralredmet" are well known to consumers for their high quality both in Russia and abroad. In 2000 “Uralredmet" (JSC) developed and implemented quality management system (QMS) corresponding to the requirements of ISO 9001. In 2012, the company successfully got through a certification audit of the existing quality management system for compliance with the International Standard of aircraft manufacturers AS 9100/EN 9100.
The standard AS 9100/EN 9100 is based on ISO 9001, including a number of additional requirements specific to aerospace industry. The availability of developed quality management system implemented and certified in accordance with the requirements of AS 9100 is a prerequisite for cooperation of the world's leading manufacturers such as «Boeing», «Airbus», «Bombardier», and «Pratt & Whitney» with suppliers.
Successful completion of the certification procedure for compliance with AS 9100 was the result of activity of "Uralredmet" (JSC) to expand partnerships with leading companies in the global aerospace industry.
"Uralredmet" (JSC) produces 30 grades of master alloy for doping the titanium alloys based on vanadium, molybdenum, niobium, complex alloys, containing vanadium, molybdenum, niobium, chromium, zirconium, titanium, and some other alloying components in various combinations. All master alloys may be made in a crushed form with size up to 6,2mm, 10mm, 15mm or 25mm.
High product quality is ensured not only by high level of technology, but also by 100% technical control level of master alloys; black light examination to determine the content of the slag particle inclusions; X-ray control to identify high-density inclusions (more than 7.5 g/cm3) and refractory materials (with melting point more than 1600°C/2900 0F). Also, each bar undergoes the chemical analysis of the main components and impurities in compliance with the required level of analytical control, which is an integral part of the manufacturing process. The central testing plant laboratory (CTPL) has "Accreditation certificate" issued by the body of accreditation "Association of Analytical Centers "Analitica"; "Test laboratory (center) accreditation certificate" issued by the Federal Service for Accreditation; "Accreditation Certificate in the field of ensuring uniformity of means of measurement” issued by the Federal Accreditation Service.
We have created a flexible system, providing for the mandatory use of alternative methods of analysis along with the main one ensuring us to have data of analysis for comparison and self-test on a regular basis. For this purpose the central laboratory have implemented methods of inductively coupled plasma (ICP), atomic absorption analysis (AAA), atomic emission spectroscopy (AES), and X-ray fluorescence analysis (RFA).
The main consumer of master alloys for titanium alloys is the main partner, one of the company's shareholders - "VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation" (PSC) (Verkhnyaya Salda, Sverdlovsk Region).
In addition to master alloys for titanium alloys "Uralredmet" (JSC) manufactures master alloys on the basis of rare earth metals, such as yttrium and neodymium, for motor transport. Also different types of metal vanadium with purity from 99.5% to 99.9% are commercially produced for special alloys and electronics. Vanadium production is carried out by using electron-beam units, both of domestic or foreign make.
